Biography

I am a grandmother of four lovely grandchildren and the mother of one handsome son. (Does the word 'prejudiced' come to mind?) I taught college preparatory math in high school for thirteen years. Then I left teaching to work at Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant. I very much enjoyed that experience for almost twenty years.

As a fan of Jane Austen and most especially, Pride and Prejudice, I read the alternate paths, sequels and prequels of this genre. My favorite movie version of Pride and Prejudice is the 1995 BBC miniseries with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. (Yes, I am a Firthaholic Darcyholic and proud to admit it.) Posting reviews of these books will be an enjoyable addition to my pleasure in reading them.

In 2012 I started to draw some of my favorite and/or pivotal scenes from the 1995 miniseries. My art is a tribute to Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice and the miniseries. In the future I plan to broaden my drawings to include other Jane Austen works.

My other passion is wildlife photography. I find much peace and contentment from watching and photographing my furry and feathery friends. I have learned much from their observation. I even won a Hallmark Greeting Card contest in November, 2011, with my verse and photograph of a cute young raccoon. It was a thrilling day when I got that winning call! You can find my card online at Hallmark.com. The link is below:

    1. I am honored by your words, Maire and I'm thrilled that you love the cover of ATB by Suzan Lauder. Her enticing book lent many ideas for cover themes. Have you read the book yet? If so, I hope you enjoyed it.

I'm so glad that you took time to look at my illustrations. That you think I capture emotion, makes my day, as that is what I strive so hard to do. Thank you. If you get a chance, go to my website where you will see more of my drawings and some of my mugs and mouse pads using them. If you leave a comment on my blog post, Thanksgiving Giveaway, you will be entered for a chance to win one of my calendars.

      Happy Holidays to you, Maire.
